What
We Do
We’re
in business to help organizations work through the strategic and operational
choices needed to meet their goals.
Our primary business is helping not-for-profit businesses develop
strategies to increase their effectiveness.
Most of our clients have been public television and radio stations and
related organizations.
Strategic planning is about competition in changing environments.
We help clients to survey their external environment, assess their
internal capacities, and make the choices to determine their future course.
After the process, priorities should be firmly in place, with all
resources directed toward strategically chosen goals.
We believe public television and public radio will stand or fall on the
quality of their local services and on the way they respond to the opportunities
around them. Successful
stations will determine which issues matter most to their audiences, will
develop strong community partnerships to meet those particular needs, will use
the internet as a full partner to broadcasting, will provide local content on a
range of platforms, and will leverage their technological assets to help fund
their community services.
We work to
improve effectiveness rather than efficiency.
Most not-for-profit organizations are already very lean.
Focusing on effectiveness, on how to get the greatest return on
investment of available resources, can make a real difference.
Operational problems must be resolved before strategic choices can be
implemented. But the
goal of the process is the development and implementation of strategies.
We
don’t limit our practice to public broadcasting, to strategic planning, or to
the not-for-profit sector, but the majority of our work has been in those areas.
If you have questions about what we have done for others or what we might
do for your organization, please contact us.
